The panel antennas that communicate with the cell tower are mounted on the inside of an exterior window. This protects them from the elements and avoids having to create an exit or penetration point for the coax cables.
An outside-mounted antenna is going to give you better signal reception, but if you’re unable to do that, this system is the best alternative available.
