Yes, an RFI Q-Fit antenna (in 38-inch or 29-inch heights) is a good replacement for the Wilson Drive OTR.
- RFI antennas have more gain than the Wilson Drive OTR antenna, especially in lower bands of cellular frequency that are used more often in remote areas.
- RFI antennas have 16.4 feet of RG58 coax cable, nearly identical to 16 feet of LMR195 coax on the Wilson.
- RFI antennas can use the Wilson OTR 3-way mount that comes with the Wilson Drive OTR.
- If your RFI antenna’s cable ends in an FME-female connector, you’ll need to adapt it to match the Wilson Drive OTR’s SMA connector. To adapt the RFI to boosters with SMA-female connectors, use adapter TS451019.
- The RFI antenna’s entire mast is a receiver, so the whole mast will need to be above the roof line of the vehicle to get the best performance. The Wilson Drive OTR has a “bulb” receiver at the top the mast, so its mast can be below the roof line as long as the bulb is above it. This means you may need to change the mounting position on your vehicle to get the RFI antenna up higher.
